About this place
At Hoto, a neighborhood Chinese diner in Katsushika's Tateishi district, most guests come for the house specialty: miso dandan noodles. Featured on Japanese television, the dish lets diners choose from three spice levels: mild, medium, or extra hot. The soup builds on rich fermented miso, coating medium-thick curly noodles with a lingering blend of gentle heat and acidity.
Beyond noodle bowls, set menus pairing mains with a half portion of fried rice are perennial favorites. Diners often alternate spoonfuls of moist fried rice with spoonfuls of soup, while classics such as umani soba topped with mixed vegetables in thickened sauce and chukadon rice bowls offer abundant, hearty alternatives.
Seating includes both counter stools and tatami dining areas, creating an easy atmosphere for a quick solo lunch. For an evening stop, the three-item drink set pairs beer with appetizers like gyoza or spring rolls, accommodating everything from a relaxed pre-noodle drink to a full meal.
